HE’S AT THE CENTER

Today’s readings are Ezekiel 8 – 11 and Revelation 4.  We are reading from the New Living Translation.

He’s at the center, sitting there on the throne. John tells us that around the throne are four living beings, around the living beings are elders, and around the elders is a great choir of thousands. But at the center of it all is Christ. He is the center of the world that is unseen, and at the center of the world that ought to be and will soon come. But here, right now, the world is off center and out of whack. It’s a simple observation, but if our lives are to be ordered as things are in heaven, as Jesus prayers in the prayer he taught his disciples, then we’re going to have to have Jesus at the center of our lives. Our problem is that we are off-center. We’ve got the wrong things at the center. The things at the center might even be good things like our family, career, or ambition. It might be our reputation or our possessions. We may have unhealthy things at the center too: resentments, regrets, our appetites, lusts and addictions. When any of these things are at the center, our lives are ’off’ – they’re not as they ought to be.

In Heaven we see that Christ is at the center. When he’s in his rightful place, then worship breaks out and things begin to make sense. Perspective and power come when Christ is at the center. It’s a simple observations but one not to be missed. John sees it and he wants us to see it. Christ is at the center of things as they are and will be.

Right now, this day, may Jesus be at the center of your heart and affections, and may worship break out in your life.

You are loved!
