He Is the Plan
Welcome, friends, to today’s reflection from the Daily Radio Bible. As we immerse ourselves in the Word, we’re invited to see the profound truth of God’s plan—a plan revealed fully in the person of Jesus. Today, we’re journeying with John the Baptist as he waits in a dark dungeon, wrestling with doubts and longing for answers.
John’s Question from the Depths
John the Baptist, the man who had prepared the way for Jesus, now finds himself imprisoned and awaiting death. Perhaps he feels forgotten, overlooked, and abandoned. He had done everything God asked of him. He had held up his end of the bargain. And now, as he sits in a dungeon, he’s hearing stories of Jesus healing a Gentile soldier, raising the dead, and preaching to the poor. If these stories are true, why is he still sitting there? Why isn’t God showing up for him? Why isn’t He doing something?
John sends his friends to ask Jesus directly: Are you the plan? And the answer comes back, not with explanations, but with evidence: The blind see. Lepers are healed. The deaf hear. The dead are raised to life. The good news is being preached to the poor. Jesus’ response is clear: Yes, I am the plan. This is what the plan looks like.
The Truth About God
Jesus’ message to John and to all of us is an invitation to see God for who He truly is. When life gets hard, when we feel forgotten or abandoned, it’s tempting to believe the lie that God is not for us—that He is vindictive, petty, unconcerned, or withholding. But Jesus reveals a very different truth.
God is not vindictive. God is not against us. God is not withholding from us.
No, God is with us. He is abiding, forgiving, giving, and deeply loving us. He is liberating us, opening the eyes of the blind, cleansing the leper, and raising people to new life. That is the truth about God. And that truth is fully revealed in the face of Jesus.
Fixing Our Eyes on the Plan
When God reveals Himself to us through Jesus, we’re faced with a choice: to see and embrace the truth or to turn away in disbelief. Jesus is the plan for mending this broken world. He is the plan for mending your broken heart. Don’t let your circumstances or doubts dissuade you from believing in Him.
Look at the woman who barges into the tax collector’s house, undeterred by her circumstances or her pride. Her eyes are fixed on Jesus because she knows who He is and who she is because of Him. She sees that she is forgiven, known, loved, and embraced. Nothing can stand in the way of her holding onto this truth, living in its joy, and being set free by the One who is true.
A Prayer for Today
And so, my prayer today is this: that we will have eyes like hers. That we will fix our eyes on God’s plan—Jesus. That we will see in Him all there is to know about God and all there is to know about ourselves. That we will be set free and live in His joy.
This is the prayer I have for my soul. It’s the prayer I have for my family—my wife, my daughters, and my son. And it’s the prayer I have for you, dear friends.
May we see Him. May we trust Him. May we live in the truth that He is the plan. Let us pray.
