Day 91: Life-Giving Perfume Judges 13 - 1 6 and II Corinthians 2
A life-giving perfume. Paul says that’s what our lives are to be. Perfume is beautiful, treasured, fills the senses, revives us, beautifies us. This perfume Paul is talking about goes even further. It gives life! This life-giving perfume never evaporates or dissipates over time. Once poured out, it grows and multiplies, it fills the room. It’s fragrance spreads through time and gives life to each new generation and civilization. This is eternal life-giving perfume. It has been poured out on us. And we are to pour it out on others. On this good friday we remember that it was pour out by our Lord, upon the whole earth, life giving perfume.
Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. (II Cor 2:14 - 15 NLT)
It is not a fragrance that descends down to the earth to be discarded and forgotten. This perfume that we have in Christ - this life of Christ that abides in us - is rising up and out into the world, giving life.
May the Spirit of Christ, the fragrance of Life, emanate from your soul, into this world. May others find this essence and receive this fragrant life, in themselves, so that they too might take it to others, spreading it out into the world, never to be forgotten. May everyone know beautiful, fragrant, eternal life in Christ.
You are loved!
