Day 84: Live in the One Who has Done It. Joshua 23 – 24, Psalm 44, and I Corinthians 11.
Live in the One Who has Done It.
Today’s readings are Joshua 23 – 24, Psalm 44, and I Corinthians 11. We are reading from the New Living Translation.
They say they can do it. We will serve the Lord. That’s what all Israel said to Joshua. We will serve him. And Joshua responds, No, you will not. But they insist. We will do it.
And that’s the cry of the flesh. I will do it! We hear that all the time, not only in our own lives, but in the lives of people like Peter. He says things like, I will never disown you. And yet, before that rooster crowed twice, he had disowned the Lord three times.
The flesh is destined to betray us and the Lord. What we need is Someone who can do it, and has done it – and that is our Jesus. He’s the one who did it. He kept the covenant. He served his father in absolute obedience, until the very end. He did it – so that we can live in, and remain in, him.
Because he did it, you can remain in the Land – in the Promise. You can have that abundant life that has been won for you by Him. Live in the One who has done it!
You are loved!
