WAVE THE WHITE FLAG
Our readings today are II Samuel 8 – 9, I Chronicles 18-19, and Matthew 21. We are reading from the New Living Translation.
Someone greater than King David, is coming. And this King is not coming to conquer, by shedding the blood of others. Rather, he has come and shed his own blood, on behalf of others. The spoils of war for this King are not silver, gold and bronze. No, the spoils of his victory are people – far more precious than any gold. He has come for sinners, tax collectors, prostitutes, ordinary fishermen and anyone who has been humbled by the defeats of war. It could be wars in their own life, in relationship, health, or finances. He comes for all men and women who are ready to wave the white flag of surrender to this humble conquering king who comes riding on a borrowed donkey. He daily gives His own life in order to offer victory to the defeated. Look! Your king is coming. He is humble, riding on a donkey. And this king says to all the defeated ones,
Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. (Mt 11:28-30 NLT)
Look at the coming King. See how humble he is and the victory he has won for you on the cross. Live in that victory today. Allow his victorious life to live in and through you as you rejoice in Him.
You are loved!
