Business as usual. For most of the people in this story, life moves on, business as usual, even in the midst of their problems, their leprosy, their uncleanness.  It’s business as usual as they tend their fields, grind our flour, and punch their clocks, as it were. And that’s what life now is like, too.  Life, for most, moves on, business as usual.  Shakespeare even acknowledges this in his play, Macbeth, as he writes, Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, -  it’s business as usual.  Things will be as they have always been - or so we think. Jesus says,

Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed. (Lk 17:30 NLT)

But Jesus says things will not always be as they are.  The Son of Man will be revealed.  The kingdom of God will be known by all.  All ten of these lepers knew it.  They had encountered the kingdom’s effects in their life, and then they went on, business as usual.  But some will encounter more than that.  They will encounter the king himself, the Son of Man.  And this will have eternal consequences.  It will never be business as usual for these people again. Their lives will be marked by worship, gratitude, and transformation, from the inside out.  You will find these people coming back to Jesus, and kneeling at his feet.

May your life not be business as usual.  Come and have an encounter with Jesus himself.

You are loved!
