TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to a new day and a new episode of the Daily Radio Bible with Hunter and Heather. I'm your host, Hunter, and today we embark on another journey through the Scriptures and in prayer. If you're looking for a community to travel with through the Bible in 2025, you've found the right place. We'll read through the entire Bible over the course of the year—the Old Testament once, the New Testament twice—all while seeking to be transformed by God's love and keeping our focus on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

In today's episode, we continue our exploration of the book of Exodus, covering chapters 3 through 5, where we witness God's call to Moses and the early struggles of leading the Israelites. We also delve into Luke chapter 22, where the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion begin to unfold, showcasing Peter's denials and Jesus' arrest. Hunter provides insightful commentary on these readings, emphasizing the importance of trusting in God's plans and the intimate concern He has for our lives.

Hunter also shares a personal announcement towards the end—he's gone back to school to pursue a graduate program in counseling. Through his journey, he offers encouragement to listeners to step into new ventures and embrace the life God has for them, regardless of age or stage. Join us for a soul-stirring time in the Word, and let’s walk this path together.

Now, let’s dive in.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

No other witnesses are required.

Why do we need any more witnesses? These are the last words shouted out in the trial of Jesus, and they're right. Why do we need any other witnesses? Everything he said that would happen has happened. Everything that he says about who he is has proven true. Every prediction and promise. No other witnesses are needed.

Every last detail is as he said it would be. They would find an upper room to be made ready, just as he said. He would be deserted and betrayed, just as he said. He would be denied three times before the dawn, just as he said. No other witnesses are required to verify the truth of this man. They even admitted themselves in their mockery. They shouted, “so you are claiming to be the son of God?” And he replied, “you say that I am.” Why do we need other witnesses? We have heard him say it.

No more witnesses are required. Ours is to trust and believe. Ours is to awaken, to have our eyes opened to the one who's standing before us. What do we believe? We believe that this is all happening according to his plan. We've just seen him fulfilling his plan. And we believe that he has a plan and an intimate concern for our lives too. He knows where we have failed. He knows where we are weak.

He knows that we are afraid. He knows how fear and pride have backed us into corners. Yet there in those corners are the people that he has come to seek and find. He's come to sit with us right there, in that dark cornered place, the place where we think we'll never get out of. He has plans for those who find themselves in corners. These are just the people he's come to rescue, to forgive, to die for, to live for. Ours is to receive. Ours is to sit at his table.

And then when we are strengthened, to serve others, just as he has. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen

And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.
