TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear listeners, to the Daily Radio Bible on this 3rd day of January. I'm Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother, here to guide you through another transformative journey in the pages of Scripture. Today, we dive into Genesis chapters 6 through 8, chronicling Noah's obedience amidst the great flood, and finish with Luke chapter 3, where we encounter John the Baptist's call to repentance and the baptism of Jesus. Together, we'll reflect on the profound themes of judgment, renewal, and the unmistakable proof of life found in Jesus Christ. Join me as we embark on this spiritual voyage, allowing God's words to shape our lives and hearts. Let's get started.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Noah sends out a dove 3 times for proof of life. God has sent judgment on the earth, and Noah sends out a dove to see if there's still life amidst the remains of his judgment. 3 times he releases this dove. The first time the dove returns, having found nothing to rest upon. It found no life, only water and only judgment. But 7 days later, he sends it out again. And this time, it comes back with proof of life, a fresh olive branch in its beak. It was fresh.

It was miraculous. That branch had grown, matured, and was fresh within 7 days. It was a picture of God's re creation. Just as God created the heavens and the earth in 7 days, here we see a picture of God making all things new in 7 days. Noah releases the dove again a third time. This time, the dove doesn't come back. The 3rd time he releases the dove for more proof of life, and it doesn't come back. The next time we see this dove, it will be many cen

In the flowing rivers of the Jordan River, the dove reappears, descending upon the one who is life itself. No more proof needed. The one who is the life has come to be with us, to rescue us from sin, death, and the grave. He is greater than Abraham. He is greater than Moses. He is greater than all the names listed today in our reading. He is the one that the father declares to be his son. He is the one that John says will take away the sins of the world.

He is the proof of life we've all been waiting for, and the prayer of my own heart today is that I will begin to participate more and more with his life. That I would declare his message of life faithfully to this world that is dying to hear, dying to know, dying to drink deeply from the waters of life. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, and that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Feel free to read along with these prayers in the show notes of today's podcast, and meditate on these words that are being spoken over you, your family, and our world. And now, let us pray.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen

And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.
