As the Father sent me, so I'm sending you. These were Jesus last words to His disciples on this second Sunday after Easter. How did the father send Jesus and what was in the Father's heart that he was willing to send His Son to us? In Jesus next words, we catch a glimpse of what that was. This is what he says next, receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. In this brief moment, with these few words, we see the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God the Father sent his son, to come and embrace the world, into the life of the Trinity, that all of humanity would share the love of God, that is known between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is why he came to offer the self giving, radically forgiving, co suffering love of God. Which leads to Jesus next words. Regarding forgiveness, he says, If you forgive anyone sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. This sounds very strange at first glance, for only God forgives sins. But what Jesus is asking us to do is to go into the world, with the mission that Jesus was sent from his father to do, and to invite all of humanity to experience the triune life of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, to proclaim the forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God, that Jesus has one for all humanity. He's sending us out, to do and to be and to proclaim what the Father sent Jesus to do. So let's do it. As the Father sent Jesus, so, he is sending us to invite people into the triune life of God, pronouncing that they have been embraced and reconciled, forgiven. So let us go, for we have been sent into this world to proclaim this good news. Amen.

You are loved!
