John says, "furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent His Son, to be the savior of the world." Johnn is declaring a cosmic ontological shift, In all of humanity. Ontology refers to our state of being, who we are as human beings. John sees everyone having undergone a transformation in their relationship with God, because of Christ. Paul wrote about it this way in 1 Corinthians 15, "for us all die in Adam. So all will be made alive in Christ." God has reversed what Adam has done. He's put humanity on a new footing. He's made us alive. God has done this. This is a statement of fact, it's not a possibility contingent on our behavior. It simply is, and John and the Apostles are declaring to everyone, even Ethiopian eunuchs, who they now have become in Christ, a child of God. This was the message that filled the early followers with all enjoy and compelled them to go throughout the whole world proclaiming this good news, that the Father has sent His Son to be the savior of the world. Amen.
