Today's Devotional:

The virgin will conceive a child and she'll give birth to a son and we'll call him Emmanuel which means God is with us. This was the Annunciation, the prophets foretold, and that Mary received in humility and faith that God would do. As he said. The gospel is first and foremost, an Annunciation of good news. It is a declaration of what God will and has done on behalf of all the world. The gospel is not a proposition, or a sales pitch, or a great opportunity. It is a declaration of what is, of what God has done on behalf of all humanity. And Mary was blessed. Not only because she heard the Annunciation for what it was good news. She also said this, I am your servant. May everything you've said about me come true. Mary was ready and willing to participate with God's reality.

This day, let's ask the Lord to open our ears to hear the good news announced over our souls and not to exchange it for something far less beautiful. And let's ask the Lord for wisdom and joy, as we discover what it is to live in the reality of Emmanuel, God with us. may that be so?
