Well, this is Holy Saturday. And on this day, there was silence. Our Lord was crucified on Good Friday. He was risen on Easter Sunday. But on Holy Saturday, there was nothing. There was nothing but loss and silence and sorrow. And that is an important part of our own journey in life. There's no doubt about that we go through times when there's nothing but silence. The silence that comes at the end of great loss. And the gospel tells us that Jesus has come to us in that silence, he meets us there, he identifies with us in that excruciatingly painful silence.
We wrestle with the question of where is God when it feels like we need him most. The gospel tells us that he is with us he has tasted the silence that we know. The Gospel also tells us that he does not leave us there. No Sunday's coming.
