As a cried out to the Lord his God. When he knew the odds were against him, he cried out to God, Asa had learned something from his dad when he was just a boy. His Dad. Ahijah had faced the army of Israel and was outnumbered 2 to 1.  800,000 troops from Israel, against Ahijah's 400,000. But Ahijah called on the name of the Lord, and God gave him victory. And now Ahijah's his son is king. And he's also at number 2 to 1 and Asa does what his father did. He cries out to God, God hears him and defeats the 1 million man Ethiopian army. He remembered well what his dad knew, that God helps the powerless against the mighty.  You and I will do well to remember this too.   Our God helps the powerless against the mighty regardless of the circumstances, even when we are outnumbered 2 to 1, when things are stacked up against us, when it seems like we will be overpowered. We are called not to be afraid and not to surrender. We are reminded today in Philippians, not to worry, but to pray about everything. With Thanksgiving, then the God of peace will guard our hearts and minds and give us victory, even when the odds are 2 to 1. So let us remember well the lesson that he learned from his father, that God is for us, that he's with us. He is the God who helps the powerless against the mighty. He is the God who wins our victory. Even overwhelming victory. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family for my wife, my daughters, my son. That's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so

You are loved!
