JUNE 4, YOU CAN BE STRONG
Today’s readings are Prov 28 - 29, Psalm 60 and Romans 16. They are being read from the New Living Translation.
Do you need some good news today? Here it is. You can be strong. God’s people are being offered strength through Christ today. Vs. 25
Now all glory to God, who is able to make you strong, just as my Good News says. (Rm 16:25 NLT)
God’s message to the Gentiles and to anyone who will listen is that there’s is strength for us today. There’s strength to help you out, to help you get you through whatever you have to get through. His strength, we’re told, is made perfect in our weakness,.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." (II Cor 12:9 NIV)
That’s good news too because sometimes I don’t feel all that strong. Oftentimes I feel like there is no shortage of my weakness.
Paul tells us that three times he asked God to take away the weakness in himself, this thing he called the “thorn in his flesh”. But God told him, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Paul eventually learned that he could boast in his weakness because it was at those times that God’s strength was resting in him.
Do you need strength today? There’s good news! He has strength to offer you, through the abiding presence of Christ in you. Draw upon that strength today, by faith. Trust in him. Whatever he’s calling you to walk through today , keep taking steps in faith. Don’t strive and try to conjure up strength. Simply abide in the strength that he offers you. Recognize that apart from Him you can do nothing.
God is with you. He’s making himself present even through the struggle, the lack, the weakness. He wants to do something very important in you. He wants to meet you there in your weakness. Keep relying on him. He’s with you. You can be strong today, through Christ.
You are loved!
