TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! In today's episode, we're journeying through day 61 of our exploration of the scriptures, guided by our guest Heather. Together, we delve into Numbers chapters 30 and 31 and finish with Mark 9. Heather invites us to gather with people from around the globe as we seek to truly see Jesus through the scriptures, drawing our hearts towards Christ and warming ourselves around the fire of God's love. Today, we'll explore themes of vows and pledges, battles and plunder in the book of Numbers, and witness the powerful acts of Jesus in the gospel of Mark, where he teaches on faith, service, and the transformative power of humble surrender. Join us as we reflect, pray, and seek God's purpose together. Let's jump in and be reminded that in a world of seeming winners and losers, it's through humble servitude and God's immeasurable grace that we find true greatness and new life. Let's dive into today's readings and be encouraged in our walk with Christ. Remember, you are loved.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Jesus shows us what true greatness is. In a world that is so often obsessed with power, success, and status, Jesus offers us a radically different vision of what it means to be great. His words in the gospel of Mark reveal that the path to greatness lies not in ascending the ladder of power or outshining others, but rather in serving them. Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else. Imagine that! In God's kingdom, the measure of greatness is not about how high you can rise above others but how deeply you can serve them.

What would happen if this profound truth took root in our hearts? What if, instead of striving to be the best in the eyes of the world, we joyfully embraced the call to be servants to all? Our actions, driven by humility and love, would display the very heart of the kingdom of God. It requires us to lay down our own claims to status and to give ourselves in love for the good of others.

Just as a small seed must be buried in the ground to grow into a fruitful plant, we too must surrender our lives, allowing God to resurrect them into something beautiful and whole. Through surrender, we are raised to new life, lives filled with meaning and purpose, reflecting the greatness of our Servant King. In a world where the loudest often gain attention, let our lives speak loudly of the quiet strength found in serving, loving, and giving.

This is my prayer for myself, and for you—to embrace a greatness that serves, that loves lavishly, filling the world with the beauty and grace of God. Let us walk in the path of true greatness that Jesus has laid before us. May we be servants on this journey, spreading the reality of His kingdom wherever we go. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen

And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.
