TODAY'S EPISODE:
Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast. Today is March 9th, 2025, and we are joined by our guest Heather, who will take us through day 68 of our journey through the Scriptures. Heather, who joins us most Sundays, guides us as we come together to the Scriptures to witness Jesus, the source of our life, with people from around the globe. Today, we dive into Deuteronomy chapters 10 through 12 and conclude with Mark chapter 16. Together, we will explore the messages of covenant renewal, the love and obedience required by God, and the profound transformation of the resurrection. We are reminded that Jesus has not left us behind, but rather goes ahead to meet us. So, join us as we warm ourselves around the fire of God's love and allow the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Scriptures today. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe to the podcast, and always remember, you are loved.
TODAY'S DEVOTION:
They entered the tomb grieving and weeping. Mary Magdalene is the first to arrive, and she is overcome with grief. Somehow, in this death, she feels left behind. This tomb, this cemetery, is all a painful reminder that she is all alone and grieving. This man that had delivered her from demonic possession, forgiven her of everything she had ever done, that had acknowledged her, seen her, and loved her, somehow left her behind. At least, that's what she thought.
Until an angel in white shows up. He has a very simple message for her. He wants to let her know that he has not left her behind. This tomb seems to indicate that God has left us behind. In fact, every time we go to a funeral, we may be confronted with the thought that perhaps God has left us behind, that somehow it's all for nothing. But now, in this empty tomb, there's an angel there dressed in white. He has a new message for Mary and for you and me and the whole world.
His message is to go. His message is to go tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus has not left us behind. In fact, he says these words: "Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there just as he told you before he died."
The message of the resurrection is this: God has not left us behind. In fact, he has gone ahead of us into Galilee, and there he will meet us and convince us with his body, with his life, with his spirit, that he is with us from now until the end of the age. God has not left us behind or abandoned us. No. He has come to rescue us. He has come and rescued us completely. He is rescuing us from the despair of being left behind, left alone. That is the message of the resurrection.
God has gone ahead. He is meeting us there, and he will continue to meet us each and every day of our life. Be convinced. Allow the Lord to convince you and live in the light of the God who goes ahead of you and meets you right where you are. Amen.
TODAY'S PRAYERS:
Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.
Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen
And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
