Whose Story are We Living in?
Today’s readings are Daniel 1-2 and Revelation16. We are reading from the New Living Translation.
Nebuchadnezzar is troubled because he is blinded to the dream. He doesn’t know what it means. And each successive kingdom comes and they, with their kings, are blinded to the dream. They don’t know what it means They’re blinded because they’ve lived their lives as if the story is about them. They’re blinded to the reality that Daniel is able to see, because they’ve made it about themselves.
And so it is with us. Kingdoms and people come and go. But apart from God, we are tragically blinded to the reality that the story isn’t about us. It’s about God. God continues to make himself known and yet we refuse to turn and repent. Instead we make this life all about ourselves. We often refuse to see him and instead curse the storm, the plague and the hailstones that come from the sky. We don’t bow our hearts to the one who is king of all things.
Pursue God the way Daniel did. Bow your heart to him every day so that your mind and heart can see and receive the reality of his kingdom life right here and now. Don’t be deceived into thinking that this life here is about you. Rather, be freed to live in the reality of the with-God life, serving Him who is the King.
You are loved!
