OUT OF THE ASHES
Today’s readings are Lamentations 1 – 2, Obadiah 1, and Revelation 14. We are reading from the New Living Translation.
Babylon is fallen - that great city is fallen- because she made all the nations of the world drink the wine of her passionate immorality. (Rev 14:8 NLT)
Babylon is fallen, says the angel. This great and tragic project; seeking to build a kingdom apart from the King, apart from God, is no more. Out of these ashes will emerge the city of God - a new Jerusalem that descends from Heaven, and Babylon will be no more. Our King will come, and he will reign forever. The kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and Christ. We will be new and the world will be new. There will be no more war, disease, sickness, death or tears.
Babylon has fallen! And out of the ashes comes our King and his kingdom. And he will reign forever!
May we live with this vision and purpose in mind; to serve him and his kingdom all the days of our life, and to hold on, with great hope and anticipation, for this kingdom that has come, is here and is yet to come.
