He is Here to Save
Today’s readings are Lamentations 3 – 5 and Revelation 15. We are reading from the New Living Translation.
The words that we’ve heard in these chapter today are quite sobering. It’s important to consider, as we hear so much about God’s wrath, that God’s ultimate purpose isn’t to be wrathful. He came into this world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst. That’s a faithful saying.
This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. (I Tim 1:15 NLT)
That’s something to hold onto. Christ Jesus came to rescue sinners like us. Even though the times are coming when God’s wrath will be unleashed on this earth – it’s all a movement towards something that goes far beyond wrath. It’s all moving toward a new kingdom, a new heaven and a new earth. God is reconciling all people to himself.
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance, therefore, I will hope in him!” Lam 3:22-24 NLT
The steadfast faithful love of the Lord never ceases, and it is offered to each of us, every day.
You are loved!
